Xylene

Xylene is a volatile organic hydrocarbon commodity product used in many industries as a solvent, cleaning agent and lubricant. The mixture is slightly greasy, colourless sweet smelling liquid that catches fire easily. It evaporates easily from soil and surface water and is broken down by sunlight into other less harmful chemicals and is commonly used in the paint, concrete, printing, silicon wafer production and cleaning industries but remains as a wax removing solvent in the Oil & Gas industry.
